Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the NYX 3 Steps To Sculpt Palette, I got the shade Light.
To be completely honest, my sister Queen asked me to review this, because she’s the one that uses it, I’ve only tried it a couple of times, so I’ll tell you my thoughts but most of the opinions are hers.
Her skin tone is slightly darker than mine and she has a lot of texture just so you know what we are talking about.
You can get this palette here for 12$ and there are 4 shades available.
PACKAGING
The packaging is very cheap. Nothing fancy here, but the pan size is very generous which I definitely appreciate, you can totally fit a brush in them.
PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
You get three shades to perfectly sculpt the face:
- SHIMMER HIGHLIGHTER: Pale yellow gold, it’s definitely shimmery, but it has some specs of glitter that are not really my favourite, it’s not powdery and it’s super easy to blend.
- MATT HIGHLIGHTER: Pale yellow, I love to use this kind of shade to brighten and set my concealer, it’s not powdery and it’s super easy to blend.
- CONTOUR: Dark brown, it’s not too cool or warm so it’s perfect to contour. This shades it’s a bit patchy but it’s easy to blend and it’s not powdery.
My sister really likes this palette but in my opinion, is too dark. I mean I’m not very fair and this is the Light shade which normally would work for my complexion but it’s definitely too dark.
What I’m trying to say is: it’s too dark to be the Light shade. I also really don’t like the Shimmery Highlighter the colour is too yellow. But again my sister loves it so it all comes to personal preference.
She says they are easy to blend and don’t enhance her texture.
APPLICATION
They are really easy to apply and blend, they don’t create any patches.
These shades are very pigmented, so apply them little by little.
LASTING POWER
They last about 6 hours before fading. I did a workout the day I tested it and there was still a bit of colour after that.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 5/10
- Longevity: 9/10
- Application: 7/10
- Formula: 8/10
- Pigmentation: 8/10
- Packaging: 6/10
GRADE: C+
There are other contouring products I like way more than this, the shade is far too dark to be Light and I really don’t like the Shimmery Highlight. I prefer powders that are more buildable especially for the face, this is so pigmented it can get out of control very easily. That being said the powders are super smooth and easy to blend, my sister loves it, she loves all the colours so it’s really a personal preference. I think it’s just average.

I’m a fair skinned girly too and I agree with you that it’s a touch dark. I’m all for subtlety when it comes to contouring cause I don’t feel like I’m the best at it.
Same. I like subtle contour way more! ??
Gosh that is dark for the light shade! Great honest review sweet x
Is it right?? Thank you so much dearie ?
Thanks for your honesty. I’m a super pale girl, so good to know that this will probably be too dark for me.
Definitely XD
I love the honesty of your review. Has me wondering what it would look like on a darker skin tone.
Probably awesome! 🙂
Thank you for giving us your honest opinion!! The colour is probably a bit too dark xx
Always keeping real 🙂 I’m glad you appreciate it xx
This color would probably be a tad dark for my skin. Thanks so much for sharing your honesty!
Thank you so much! ?
