Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold.
This highlighter has been so HYPED up in the beauty community lately I felt like I needed to try it at all costs. I have to say, I’m a bit of a highlighters snob, I like high-end ones 9 times out of ten and I only have one drugstore favourite, the Physicians Formula Natural Nude Shimmer Strips Palette.
As always I’m willing to try anything, especially from the drugstore and especially from Maybelline, one of my favourite drugstore brands. I originally wanted the pinker shade that Tati has been raving about but it was sold out so I went for this one that everyone seemed to love.

PACKAGING
The packaging is very cheap. Nothing fancy here, but the pan size is fairly generous which I definitely appreciate.
On the back, you can see the shade name and some instructions on how to apply it.
PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
It’s a bright gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It’s very strong and glittery and it’s not very smooth, I find that it tends to lay on top the skin instead of mashing with it.
It has medium pigmentation.
The colour is pretty but I don’t really like this kind of warm shades on me plus it’s a bit too dark for my skin tone.
APPLICATION
It’s a bit tricky to apply because it tends to be a bit crumbly and chunky.

On me, it lasts around 7 hours without fading.

I’m honestly not entirely sure on why this highlighter is so popular, I mean I like it, it’s nice but there are so many better ones out there. The formula is a chunky and crumbly, the pigmentation is ok, I don’t really like that shade on me (but that’s a personal preference). Overall it’s not a complete flop but I won’t keep it my collection either.

It’s a shame this highlighter is chunky and crumbly! It does look pretty in the swatch but it’s probably not for me. There are quite a few good highlighters at the drugstore now so I think I’ll stick to them x

If you like something intense then revolution x Soph palette is genuinely very good & a nice selection of shades. I also love the highlight in the rimmel late moss sculpting palette, glowy but not glittery – just depends if you’re into the shade of it. & if you like liquid I like the L’Oréal true match liquid glow in Ice glow! That’s just my opinions though, maybe you will like them too 🙂 x

What a lovely color, and I love the touch of gold. It adds just the right hint of metallic color. I’ve never tried anything like this, but it looks great.

The highlighter looks beautiful on but that shade is definitely me. I’m nervous about the crumbling and other call outs though… I hate it was disappointing.
