Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review of the Essence Prime & Last Daily Diaries Mattifying Primer Gel.
I didn’t like this product at first because I didn’t really understand it but after reading the description on the site my opinion kind of switched.
I think I was expecting a different kind of product but this kind of feels like a moisturizer more than an actual primer, kind of like the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer which is more target to dry skin people this is more for oily skin. I am more combo so I have to switch between them depending on how my skin behaves on that day.
You can get it here for around 5$.
PACKAGING
For a 5$ primer, the packaging feels extremely fancy, the bottle is actual glass and it has a pump which you know I always appreciate because it’s sanitary.
I kid you not this primer smells like the Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua foundation that used to be one of my favourites way back when, in case you don’t know that scent, it’s like very expensive skincare. I love it. Not only it’s nostalgic but it’s very pleasant.
EFFECT & TEXTURE
This primer feels like a gel moisturizer, it doesn’t feel like a silicone product. I find it quite mattifying and not greasy. On the bottle, it says that you can use it alone or under make up, which I think it’s very clever if you have oily skin but don’t want to wear foundation it can be a good option.
I think unless you have oily skin this is not a necessary product and I think you better invest in a good face cream but if you have a tight budget this is a good option.
I still have to use a pore minimizer on top of it because other than mattify it does nothing to the skin.
LASTING POWER
I don’t think it makes my foundation last any longer because I don’t use it alone, despite that I find it keeps my skin matte for 4 hours.
RATINGS:
- Effect: 8/10
- Longevity: 7/10
- Application: 9/10
- Texture: 10/10
- Packaging: 9/10
GRADE: A-
This primer is good and a really good option if you have oily skin but are on a budget. It’s really mattifying but it doesn’t dry my skin out, it feels lovely on the skin, I love the fragrance and the packaging. I would have loved something like this when I was younger and my skin was oilier. If you have pores like me you’d have to combine it with another product but for that price I highly recommend it.
