Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatches of the L’Oreal Color Queen Oil Eyeshadow in the shades Force and Iconic.
I’m pretty sure these L’Oreal Color Queen Oil eyeshadows are the new version of the Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow because I think they discontinued those at least in Italy, in the States they still have the old packaging.
I’m not normally a fan of single eyeshadows, I prefer palettes, but I know there are people (like my mama) who don’t really use eyeshadows and they just need one shade so I thought I could review these for people like her.
They come in three formulas: matte, satin and glitter.
You can get them here for 6$,
L’Oreal Color Queen Oil Eyeshadow in Iconic
L’Oreal Color Queen Oil Eyeshadow in Force
COLOUR
- Iconic is a dark teal.
- Force is a satin medium brown.
PACKAGING
The packaging is very simple and minimal, I like that I can see the shade through the top and the holographic details.
All the info is on the back.
PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
The formula is quite soft and smooth especially when you swatch it, it has medium pigmentation. It contains 30% of oil which is supposed to make the product creamier. You definitely have to build up the colour.
- Iconic: is one of the glitters, definitely the worst out of the two. It has a lot of fall out and it’s incredibly patchy. I’ve tried to use it with a wet brush too but it keeps grabbing on the lid and it creates uneven patches which is something you can clearly see in the photos on the lid.
- Force: is a satin. It’s very nice and easy to use. It doesn’t have any fallout and it’s not too chalky, it’s easy to blend and it almost feels like a cream. It’s on the sheer side so you’ll have to layer it.
APPLICATION
- Iconic: I’ve tried with a dry brush, wet brush and fingers, it’s incredibly hard to put on and it always looks patchy.
- Force: I use a regular brush to apply it.
SWATCH
Iconic

Force:

LASTING POWER
On me, it lasts around 5 hours before starting to crease.
RATINGS:
Since they performed so differently I’ll have to give to different grades.
Iconic:
- Colour: 9/10
- Longevity: 6/10
- Application: 4/10
- Texture: 3/10
- Pigmentation: 5/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: D
The colour is pretty and that’s about it. You can see how patchy it is and it took me at least five minutes of work to put it on. There is no way to use it and make it pretty so it’s a pass for me. The lasting power is bad too.
Force:
- Colour: 9/10
- Longevity: 6/10
- Application: 7/10
- Texture: 8/10
- Pigmentation: 7/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: B-
I really like this shade, it’s very nice for every day and it performs well, it’s creamy and buttery, easy to apply and to blend. The lasting power could be better, I have very oily eyelids so I have to use a primer but even with that, it creased after only 5 hours.

omg the “Iconic” looks stunning. Lovely review. I love L’oreal! Their makeup is good and I also discovered the makeup remover. I’ts excellent, I already reviewed it!
Great post! Have a nice day <3
I love their modellar water is so good! Thank you for reading
These are beautiful! I’m more of a one shade kind of girl. I would probably wear Force all of the time, but that Iconic is stunning!
Well, since Iconic is not good you better stick with the first one 🙂
I usually purchase pallets with 3 or 4 colors but occasionally will pick up a single when I see a shade I really love. Looking at these two I would have thought that the brown would have had more issues with application but was I wrong! The green clearly has issues.
Yep the green was a mess sadly, but they have plenty of nice shades so it’s fine x
I actually love single shadows. They’re perfect if you wanna do your makeup quickly and not get too overwhelmed with options! That’s a shame about the teal color! The color looks beautiful but no one wants to do that much work to put it on. The brown looks like a great everyday option!
I never use single eyeshadows, if I need a to do a quick look I usually use whatever highlighter I’m using on the face on my lid but my mom is loving the brown for her everyday look x
I love putting a bit of highlighter on the eyes too!
I guess that it will work better on me because my skin is not oily. I like the satin finish better than glitter though.
That’s also the one that performs better ??
Both shadows look beautiful, too bad the quality wasn’t the same 🙁 I’ll be skipping theses x
