Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Essence Fresh & Fit Healthy Glow Foundation.
I always love to find new affordable foundations and I feel like with this one essence really stepped up its game. For a 5$ foundation, this looks NICE. The only problem is that as always with Essence foundations there aren’t many shades.
The description says: “Enriched with vitamins and cranberry water, this makeup base awakens the skin and provides a healthy look. With pigments that reflect light to a smooth and glowing complexion”.
You can get the Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Foundation here for about 6$ and it comes in four shades. I have shade 20 Fresh Nude.
PACKAGING
The bottle is made of glass and it has a pump. It contains 30ml of product which is pretty standard for a foundation.
I’m not the biggest fan of the glass bottle: it looks nice and fancy but I’m personally incredibly clumsy so I’m always scared to break it.
I appreciate the pump as it’s really sanitary.

FORMULA & COVERAGE
The formula is quite thick, it has medium-high coverage. The finish is natural, it looks just like skin and looks very smooth on the skin.
Something that really impressed me is how it glides on the skin, it looks so natural on but my face looks incredibly smooth and poreless but like I’m not wearing anything.
A little goes a long way with this one.
EFFECT
This foundation looks amazing on my skin, I love how natural the finish is, it looks like your skin but better.
It can get a bit heavy and cakey if you use too much
APPLICATION
My favourite way to apply it’s dabbing it with my fingers on the face and then blend it with a damp sponge, I find that it makes the foundation mesh with the skin beautifully.
The shade 20 matches me perfectly which is quite impressive since there are only four shades. I’m lucky.

LASTING POWER
This foundation lasts for 4 hours without blotting it.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 6/10
- Longevity: 8/10
- Application: 9/10
- Texture: 9/10
- Pigmentation: 8/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: B+
I like this foundation, it’s perfect for day to day life if you want a full-coverage product that is not too matt. I like the satin finish but I personally prefer less coverage. I also like the packaging despite the fact that I’m always afraid to break it but I love the pump. The shade range sucks.

I honestly don’t know the brand but i am sure my wife knows it. The color is great! My wife would love to try it.
Wow that looks amazing on your skin! I’m surprised by how many drugstore brands still have awful shade ranges these days ?.
I feel like is mostly from very very affordable brand, it’s kind of sad
Very affordable brands for sure, and even top-tier brands like Chantecaille don’t always have the best choice either, which I definitely don’t understand!
I feel like big brands don’t care and small brands save money (?) it’s still ridiculous. I think catrice is doing a better job so since they are owned by the same factory maybe essence will improve too ????
My theory, at least with the pricier brands, is that they only produce what they’re already selling and not what they could sell, if that makes sense. They have data on who their customers are, where they generally live, perhaps even what their median income is, etc. So they just produce shades that they know fit into those buckets. I know that’s super cynical, but it’s just my theory! And I wouldn’t put any brands or companies above it.
It’s is cynical and racist (not you) but I definitely agree.
Wait my comment came out so wrong. I mean is cynical to think that, the brands have some sort of racism in them and I agree with what you said! Ok, that’s better. It sounded like I agreed with the brands
Ha! Don’t worry I got you! ?
It looks really good! I’d love to try! Though, because I have very fair skin, if the shade range is small, there probbly won’t be my skin colour hahaha ?
They have a shade lighter than this so that will probably match you ?
Interesting! I’ll try to see if I can find it, then ! ?
I’ve looked for foundation like this for long time. I’m interested with the texture and has a natural look because i must be careful when I dicide the colour foundation for my skin that has yellow skin tone. Thanks for sharing anyway.. This article is really helpful for me
Thank you for reading xxx
Loved the shades. I learned a new think of dabbing with a damp sponge for blending. Will have to apply that.
That’s the best technique in my opinion!
It’s annoying that the shade range isn’t good! Sounds like it’s got a fairly good formula though xx
