Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatches of the YSL Sequin Crush Mono Eyeshadow in the shades Bold Blue and Empowered Silver.
As I’ve said in the review of the Smashbox #Repost Photo Edit Eyeshadow Trio I don’t get easily excited over eyeshadows because let’s be honest, we have seen it all, so when I see something so different I get wayyy overexcited about it.
My coworker and I got so excited when we got these YSL eyeshadows at work. We were like kids on Christmas day! Keep reading to find out why they are so special.
You can get the YSL Sequin Crush Mono Eyeshadow here for 30$
09 Bold Blue
02 Empowered Silver
Colour
- Bold Blue is an aqua blue
- Empowered Silver is metallic silver
Packaging
They are single eyeshadows which are not my favourite because I prefer palettes but for this kind of formula it makes sense they are singles. You won’t need many shades, even just one as an accent.
Being YSL the packaging is gorgeous, super fancy and it comes with a tiny mirror too.
FORMULA
The formula is super creamy and pigmented, it is a pressed glitter but it’s not gritty in texture. They almost look like liquid metal.
If you use a primer underneath they don’t have too much fall down. You can easily layer them.
The blue one is a bit less intense so if you blend it you’ll lose the glitter but still have the blue hint.
APPLICATION
The best way to put them on is with your fingers and over a primer otherwise, you won’t get the maximum pigmentation.
SWATCH
Bold Blue
Empowered Silver

LASTING POWER
On me, they both last over 9 hours without creasing.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 10/10
- Longevity: 10/10
- Application: 9/10
- Texture: 10/10
- Pigmentation: 10/10
- Packaging: 9/10
GRADE: A+
I don’t know what to say, I love these eyeshadows. The shade range, the pigmentation, the blendability and packaging. I love them. I have so many eyeshadows but these colours and the formula are so unique I needed them in my collection. I’m going to use them a lot to create some night looks.

That blue is to die for!! I need that – that looks so pretty and I love wearing blue because of my green eyes!
It’s amazing!
Wow how gorgeous are these colors?! And the texture too looks amazing!
You need to feel them. I’ve never seen anything like them
I’m not surprised, they look amazing on camera.
I love the Bold Blue and the fact that it is like a liquid metal. I’ve had my makeup done with a glitter eye shadow and it felt so heavy on my eyes. Thank you for sharing these beautiful shades, I’ll be on the lookout for the Bold Blue.
You’ll love it!
Omg I love the looks you created with them !!! The blue shade is absolutely gorgeous !
Thank you x the blue one is on its own the other one is the #MakeupMonday from last week
Im on the fence about anything shimmery on my eyelids because I tend to be a bit oily. Does it cake with oily lids?
You have to use a primer to make them look at their best and with a primer it won’t happen
I don’t use glittery shades as much as I used to since the glitter seemingly gets my eyes and irritate them. However, my curiosity is piqued with this brand. I love how highly pigmented the shades are.
They are magical x
I have never tried YSL eye shadow, only their lipstick. I am not a fan of glittery eye palettes, do they have one without the shimmer?
I love the sparkly shadows and they really pop in photographs. I love the second look and how you added jewels, great touch.
Thank you x
The aqua blue looks stunning. I really like your look which you created with bold blue (aqua)
Thank you x
Pretty vibrant colors. Going out wearing those would be a beautiful adventure. You always make very good photos showing the true picture.
Thank you!
I loved the metallic silver shade since I know I can carry it well. Blue looks stylish but I do not know how to combine with a dress. I need your suggestions for that.
I always wear black and go crazy with my make up hahah
The blue one is perfect for you. I like the shine in both!
Thank you! ?
YSL are super on point- the packaging is something else! That blue shade is so amazing and you put it just so nicely. Those eyes are really popping!
My daughter would really love the bold blue. The color and the look she would have a lot of fun with. I love how unique the look she does is, and this would go well with it.
I love the glitter. They are so vibrant and so pretty pigmented.
Totally awesome x
I love how pigmented these eyeshadows are. I am going to have to buy some for myself soon. Thanks for the in depth review!
Thank you for reading x
Wow, I love these shades as blue is my favorite color. Can you use brushes to apply the eye shadow is it best to use your fingers to get the vibrant coloring?
Fingers 100%
Both shades look so pigmented. My favorite out of the two is the blue green. It’s just stunning x
