Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Essence Ola Rio Eyeshadow Palette.
This palette got me really curious because I’m the biggest eyeshadow snob and I never use affordable one but I thought I could review it for those who don’t want to splurge.
They came out with four palettes and this had those pretty fall shades I decided to give it a go.
You can buy it from Ulta for 9,99$
PACKAGING
The packaging is very simple, it honestly reminds me of more pricey palettes. The closure is magnetic. You get nine eyeshadow in the palette with just three mattes.
There is a nice mirror in it too.
The shades don’t have names but on the back of the palette, you can read some info about it.

PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
The formula is quite soft and smooth especially when you swatch it, it has medium pigmentation. You definitely have to build up the colour.
The main problem I have is that once you put it on the shades mesh together and look like one colour.
The second to last shade is incredibly patchy once you put it on.
APPLICATION
You can put them on with your fingers to get a more intense pigmentation but as soon as you blend it you lose all the colours.
SWATCH
I’ve used four shades for the first look and five for the second but as you can see you don’t see the separation between them.
LASTING POWER
On me, it lasts around 5 hours before starting to crease.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 8/10
- Longevity: 6/10
- Application: 4/10
- Formula: 3/10
- Pigmentation: 5/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: C
The packaging of this palette looks so pretty and I like the colour selection but that’s about it. You can’t use this palette to create a look because the shades are bland and they mesh together. Even if it’s affordable I wouldn’t recommend it. I stand behind the fact that eyeshadow is one of the things you have to splurge on.

I love the colours of the pallette! Too bad the formula isn’t very good !

Great that the formula is soft, smooth and has medium pigmentation. Interesting that the main problem is that once you put it on the shades mesh together and look like one color. Awesome pictures!
Thank you ?
