Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette.
From the moment I saw this palette I knew it was going to be mine, I mean, look at her, she’s gorgeous.
I’ve heard amazing things about the Huda Beauty palettes but this is the first one I’ve tried, honestly because I think they are too pricey for what they are but there was a 20% off sale and it was Christmas so here we are.
You can get it from Sephora for 67$.
Edited on April 1st 2020.
PACKAGING
This palette has an iridescent transparent box, that you can see the palette through.
The palette itself has Huda’s eyes on top and I really don’t like it. I mean it’s beautifully done and sturdy but I don’t like the design. I do love the big mirror inside.
It features nine mattes, six metallics, one glitter (Nebula) and two sheer multi-reflective shadows (Supermoon and Gold Glitch).

PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
All the shades have a medium to high pigmentation, they are really creamy and easy to blend. They don’t have much fall down which is unreal, even the glitters.
Mattes: are insanely buttery and easy to blend, this is the kind of formula you can’t screw up because it blends itself but the shades in the pan don’t look true to colour on the lid.
They look more muted in the palette but once they are on the eyes they are way more pastelly. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but I find myself always a bit unsatisfied with my look because I envision it differently.
Shimmers: are the most disappointing, they are pretty but more on the sheer side and you have to build them up which is a waste.
Glitter: is unreal. Creamy, not chunky at all and it barely has any fall down.
Multi-Reflectives: are pretty but they require a shadow underneath, otherwise, they don’t show up.
APPLICATION
All the shades blend easily with brushes but the shimmery ones work best if you use your fingers and you press them on.
SWATCH

LOOKS
I’ve used Off Balance and Libra in the crease. Vortex in the outer corner, Nebula on the lid. Supermoon on the inner corner and Ultra Violet on the lower lashline.
I’ve used Karma and Utopia in the crease, Cosmic on the lid which I’ve topped with Gold Glitch. On top of my black eyeliner I’ve used Mercury.
LASTING POWER
With a primer, they last about 8 hours before creasing.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 9/10
- Longevity: 9/10
- Application: 7/10
- Formula: 6/10
- Pigmentation: 6/10
- Packaging: 7/10
GRADE: B-
This palette is beautiful. I love the colour story and it really inspires me. The formula of the mattes is incredible but it drives me crazy that the shades change so much on the lids, the shimmers require a bit of layering but they are ok. The multi-reflective ones are tricky but pretty. I don’t love the packaging. Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth 67$ and it’s very disappointing, I keep it because of the matte pastels because I don’t have them in any other palette but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The shades are super pretty. They look extremely pigmented too. I remember when Huda use to blog. She has come so far in the beauty industry.
Oh yeah those were the days ahahha
The color story in this palette is absolutely amazing! That’s so interesting that the shimmers have to be built up. The shimmers in the Obsessions Palettes are super creamy and super pigmented.
I was quite disappointed actually!
It is definitely strange to say the least!
I rarely use my fingers to blend, but after reading this I might gove it a go. Sometimes there’s too much of a line with a brush.
Only with the shimmers!
I love the top row of the palette. It actually looks amazing palette x
Yep it’s so pretty!
It looks so good on you but I know that I could never pull this one off. It’s really a challenging color but you make it look so nice. The shading is just smooth.
Thank you!
OMG the colours are amazing, love the swatch! ? I’m pretty sure you’ll make a good use out of it, it seems like these are the colours you’d use the most! ? When I saw the palette I thought “ow, too many cold tones(is that the word? ?) for me” especially the blue colours. But I absolutely love the looks you’ve created ! ?
Thank you! I’m excited to create more!
I love the space colors in the palette, they are so beautiful! And I love the shade in nebula! It really good looks good on you!
Thank you ? I think is my favourite in the palette!
I’m SO happy to see that this got an A because I am IN LOVE with this palette.
Ahahha it’s stunning
Wow the shades are so vivid. I love them a fun nighttme look!
