Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Essence The Rose Edition Eyeshadow Palette.
Ok, so you know my position with drugstore eyeshadows, but this palette looked promising, it was like an affordable version of the Naked 3, so I thought why not?
The also have a more nude version that looks like the OG Naked but it was sold out when I got this one.
You can get it here for 5,50$
PACKAGING
The packaging is very simple and cheap, obviously is an affordable palette but it seems sturdy.
The shades don’t have names but on the back of the palette, you can read some info about it.

PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
The formula is quite soft and smooth especially when you swatch it, it has medium pigmentation. It doesn’t have much fallout which is actually surprising.
The main problem I have is that once you put it on the shades mesh together and look like one colour.
The last shade is incredibly patchy once you put it on and the third to last it’s pretty much invisible when you put it on.
APPLICATION
You can put them on with your fingers to get a more intense pigmentation but as soon as you blend it you lose all the colours.
SWATCH
I’ve used shade 3 in the crease shade 6 and 7 in the outer corner, shade 4 on the lid and shade 1 in the inner corner.
I used shade 6 in the crease which I’ve then deepened with shade 9 in the inner and outer corner I’ve used shade 5. On the lower lashline, I’ve used shade 7 and 9. On the brow bone, I’ve used shade 2 and in the tear duct I’ve put shade 1.
LASTING POWER
On me, it lasts around 5 hours before starting to crease.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 7/10
- Longevity: 6/10
- Application: 4/10
- Formula: 5/10
- Pigmentation: 5/10
- Packaging: 6/10
GRADE: C–
I like the colour selection and the formula isn’t bad but you can’t use this palette to create a look because the shades mesh together and all the looks look too similar. Even if it’s affordable I wouldn’t recommend it. I stand behind the fact that eyeshadow is one of the things you have to splurge on.

I love these colors. It’s a shame they don’t hold up well through. My daughter would probably still want it. These are her kind of colors.
There are many other options, I like the colours too
SO sad it wasn’t that great of quality the colors are sure pretty thought. thanks for your honest review!!!
Thank you for stopping by ?
I’m so sorry you didn’t care for this palette, but I thought the shades were very pretty. I especially liked the cream and taupe ones. 🙂
The shades are pretty, too bad the formula isn’t great
Aw what a bummer this didn’t work out for you – the swatches really were beautiful!
It looked promising until I put it on the eyes ?
I am glad I came across this thorough review of this eyeshadow. Now, I know to steer clear of buying it!!!
??
I see what you mean when you say even if it’s inexpensive, it doesn’t mean it’s worth even that. I’ll take your advice and avoid this palette.
Yeah there’s something better out there x
The swatches look lovely, but we know that only tells half the story! It’s all about how they perform on the eyes, and some drugstore shadows just don’t have it. I’ve never tried any shadows from Essence before. We don’t have the biggest selection of their products here in the States but I’d likely stay away.
The single super glittery ones are usually very nice but the palettes are a pass for me
It’s true that it looks hard to create a specific look with this palette, but I do love the colours a lot! Since I mostly use only one shade when I put eye-shadow on, I think I would really like this palette!
It would be great for that I guess but for more complicated looks I’d pass
I like that Essence is an affordable brand b/c even if the makeup is somewhat of a flop, you didn’t spend that much on it. The shades do look pretty, but it is a shame about the formula.
shame! the shades look stunning too!!
I was sooo disappointed
