Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Essence High Beauty Hydrating Face Primer.
Last product I’ve picked up from the Essence High Beauty line, I’ll repeat with I said in previous posts: this line contains hemp seed oil which basically is manufactured from varieties of Cannabis but doesn’t contain significant amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal psychoactive element present in the cannabis plant. The oil contains omega 3, omega 6 and linoleic acid that stimulate elastin which makes the skin more beautiful, healthy and elastic.
I’ve never smoked because I’m prone to addiction so I avoid it, but no judgment if you do, the thing is, I got curious about it and when I saw an affordable brand like essence doing a line with Cannabis derivatives I decided to give it a go.
You can get the primer here for 5,99$
PACKAGING
The packaging is super simple, I like the squeezy tube because it’s super hygienic and you don’t waste any product.
I also like the paint tube kind of look. It’s adorable.

Formula & Effect
This primer feels like a moisturizer, it doesn’t feel like a silicone product. I find it quite hydrating and not greasy. It has a slight yellow tone which is quite brightening.
I haven’t noticed any benefit with the hemp oil addiction. It might need more time.
I think unless you have super dry skin this is not a necessary product, I mean you better invest in a good face cream rather than in this.
I still have to use a pore minimizer on top of it because other than hydrate it does nothing to the skin.

LASTING POWER
I don’t think it makes my foundation last any longer.
RATINGS:
- Effect: 6/10
- Longevity: 6/10
- Application: 7/10
- Formula: 6/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: C+
This primer is ok but pretty pointless in my opinion. If your skin is super dry and you don’t have any pores it can work for you, or maybe if you have more mature skin it might work but it’s not necessary. I think I might use it when the weather gets cold but it’s nothing I will repurchase.

I am going to be trying this primer out. The yellow base helps to diminish redness which I have a major problem with. Can’t wait!
It will definitely help with it!
I really like how detailed your review is! I love how you’ve constructively criticised it.
Thank you for reading!
The primer sounds good to me – i hate having to use moisturizer AND primer! A good product to be on the lookout for.
Nice having both 😊
I haven’t used anything from Essence before, but I do want too! It’s a shame you found this pretty pointless, but i can see why, sometimes primers like this just feel like adding an extra moisturiser.. I personally enjoy a primer that creates a tacky/sticky base xx
I like those primers too!
