Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Fenty Beauty Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara in the shade Miss Merlot.
This mascara is part of the Fall collection and for now it only comes as a mini.
If you guys have been here for a few years, you’d know burgundy mascara is my OBSESSION! I love how it brings out the green in my eyes but burgundy mascara is very hard to find.
I’ve tried the YSL one in the past and while it’s gorgeous it dries so quickly is not worth the 30$ price. Kiko usually releases one every summer but this one they didn’t so I was left without.
That is until Fenty Beauty came in and did one. I almost lost it. I couldn’t wait to get it. I was also very curious about the formula of their mascara because you know I’m a bit complicated when it comes to mascaras.
Anyway, this mascara comes only as mini, you can get it from Sephora for 14$
The shade I got is the burgundy but it comes in army green too.
I absolutely LOVE the packaging, it’s so chic and it has pink gradient so of course, I love it. It comes in the classic graffiti cardboard box.
The spooly is oval and thin (they call it flat-to-fat) and it’s made of soft bristles.
The formula is not too thick or too liquidy, if you are not careful it tends to transfer on your lids when you apply it. But once it dries it doesn’t smudge or flake off.
The colour is stunning, a beautiful burgundy maybe it’s a bit too dark but I like it because it still gives a hint of colour without losing the definition that black mascara usually gives.
The reason I wear burgundy mascara is not for people to notice it, it because the tone makes my green eyes pop so this is perfect for me but if you want a noticeable colour this is not it unless you have very fair lashes.
EFFECT & APPLICATION
I do two coats to get the best results but if you like to do more you can definitely build this mascara up without the spidery effect. Overall I think two coats are more than enough the get the best result.
This mascara is very lengthening and volumizing. It’s not clumpy at all.
I find that it holds a curl quite well but I had to re-curl them after the mascara was dry. Some people don’t like to do that because it can break the lashes but mine are very thick so it’s fine.
One of the things I love the most about it is that once it dries it doesn’t make the lashes really hard. They remain soft and flattery.
This mascara lasts all day on me without flaking or smudging.
- Colour: 8/10
- Longevity: 9/10
- Application: 9/10
- Packaging: 9/10
- Effect: 8/10
- Formula: 8/10
I absolutely adore this mascara. Guarantee is expensive especially for such a small size but it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for years. It looks beautiful on the lashes, to the point that I could get the black version and I normally don’t use expensive mascaras. It’s lengthening and volumizing, holds a curl and lasts all day. The only downside for me is that I have to recurl the lashes after it dries but I’ll take it. I finally have a burgundy mascara I love.
I really hope you guys enjoyed it, don’t forget to like, comment and share to let me know all your thoughts and if you have any question.
