Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review of the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Radical Mascara.
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with YSL Mascaras. As you know The Shock is my favourite mascara ever but they tend to dry very quickly (The Shock doesn’t though). I had their burgundy one that barely lasted 2 months.
So I was a bit hesitant to try this one but it is a cult favourite that recently got reformulated so I got really curious.
You can get it here for 29$.
The packaging is very on brand with the brand.
It has a very standard brush, made with soft bristles. If you are familiar with YSL mascaras you’d know they have a very specific scent.
I absolutely love it but it might bother sensitive eyes.
The formula is quite liquidy and very black, if you are not careful it tends to transfer on your lids when you apply it.
EFFECT & APPLICATION
I always do two coats to get the best results.
I think this mascara is very bland: it doesn’t do much for my lashes, despite the name it’s not volumizing and I don’t find it particularly good at holding a curl.
It’s kind of lengthening so maybe you can like it if you don’t need too much volume.
For me, though the effect is simply not there, my lashes just look more black.
This mascara lasts all day on me without flaking or smudging.
I find it fairly easy to remove with micellar water, I don’t have the black halo around my eyes when I wake up.

- Application: 5/10
- Packaging: 7/10
- Effect: 5/10
- Formula: 5/10
I think is obvious that I don’t like this mascara at all. It could work for you if you only need a lengthening one. Obviously, it makes the name pretty deceiving in my opinion since as a volumizing mascara is a gigantic epic fail. The packaging is obviously gorgeous. I don’t recommend it at all, especially since it’s so pricey.
