Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation.
Back when I worked at Douglas this foundation was the one we had to recommend clients. It was a lucky choice because this foundation is very versatile and can work on a lot of skin types.
I’ve worked with it many times but I’ve never loved it much on myself because I always thought it was too heavy for my tastes but recently, I’ve tried it with the new Smashbox Photo Finish Vitamin Glow Primer and I was blown away.
It comes in 37 shades (which is great but most of them are on the light-medium spectrum) and you can buy at Sephora for 38$. I use the shade 2.12 which is Light Neutral.
(I know this post is going to sound sponsored, it’s not, I just know a lot because I had to sell it when I worked at Douglas but my opinion is not influenced by that at all).
The bottle is made of glass and it has a pump. It contains 30ml of product which is pretty standard for a foundation.
I’m not the biggest fan of the glass bottle: it looks nice and fancy but I’m personally incredibly clumsy so I’m always scared to break it.
I appreciate the pump as it’s really sanitary.
FORMULA & COVERAGE
The formula is quite dense. It has medium coverage but it’s buildable. The finish is natural and looks very smooth on the skin.
Something I really like is how versatile it is. You can sheer it out combining it with a moisturizer or you can layer it to full coverage. You can make it more matte with an oil control primer and a setting powder or do what I do and use a primer that’s hydrating.
It minimizes pores beautifully and if you use and hydrating primer (or a thicker moisturizer either before or combined with it) it won’t drag on dry patches either.
It also works on different age people, my mom used it and it was beautiful on her too but I can use it too.
This foundation looks amazing on my skin, I love how natural the finish it is, it looks like your skin but better.
It looks like you are wearing a filter, especially combined with the Smashbox Photo Finish Vitamin Glow Primer.
In the winter I’ll have to use more moisturizer if I want to keep using it because it tends to enhance dryness on my forehead but that’s all.
My favourite way to apply it’s dabbing it with my fingers on the face and then blend it with a damp sponge, I find that it makes the foundation mesh with the skin beautifully.
This foundation lasts for 8 hours without blotting it.

I really like this foundation, it’s perfect for day to day life. It’s easy to wear and it doesn’t look like you are wearing anything. I seriously love how versatile it is. The finish is beautiful. I still prefer products with less coverage but I know I’m the minority here, it’s not heavy though so a lot of people can use it. The shade range is great and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new foundation.
I really hope you guys enjoyed it, don’t forget to like, comment and share to let me know all your thoughts and if you have any question.
