Today’s question is: “How many shades a palette has to have to be perfect for you? And what colors must be there?”
Hi Darlings, so today’s post is going to be another: Mimi & Julia Ask.
Where we are going to ask you a beauty related question and we want to read your answers so make sure to leave a comment.
If you have a question for next week you are free to ask and I’ll make sure include it in another post and to give you credit for it.
How many shades a palette has to have to be perfect for you? And what colors must be there?
Mimi: To me, it’s about 20. Some must have shades to me are definitely a matte and a shimmery ivory shade, a matte light brown and a darker one.
I need those shades to make good looks other than that, I don’t care.
Julia: Not too many, otherwise I don’t know where to start and I get confused.
However, I need a brownish colour for the crease and a fuchsia to hump up any look.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN: LEAVE US A COMMENT SO WE CAN START A CONVERSATION.

Love,
The more colors the better and I prefer colors I don’t already have in my new palettes.
Oh that makes sense! You can play with colours so much with your skin tone
I never thought of this question before but I do love trying new shades, so the more the better!
That’s nice!
This is a great question, and I bet it’s different for everybody depending on their skill level and what they want to achieve. Personally I use 2 or 3 and I’m happy!
On most days I do too!
From 6 to 18 shades. Huge palettes aren’t practical for storage, often they either include too many similar shades or too many different shades that confuses me. I need at least one brown/dark purple crease shade and a highlighting shade for an inner corner. I don’t like matte black since I never use it, especially in small palettes.
Agree! I never use black too!
My perfect palette should have nudes, some pop of colors, glitters, and Matte.

That’s my always mood!
I love matching colors with the season! As of lately,I am feeling more mauves and beiges!
Me too actually!
Since I don’t use many eyeshadows in one look, I can definitely get by with a really great quad (I’m thinking Charlotte Tilbury). It has to have at least one matte mid-tone brown either for the crease or on the lid. Plus one shimmery light shade to switch things up.
Yes for CT they are perfect for every day!
I’m not picky as long as there’s a few neutrals and some with shimmer.
Agree!
I feel like my favorite palettes tend to be 9-18 shades. With too many shades, I’m overwhelmed but with too few I’m lacking things I’d need to create an entire look. I hate saying this because I used to low-key judge reviewers when they’d ding a palette for not having a transition shade….. but I def need a couple of light and medium transitional shades.
For example, I’ve been trying to pan my Huda Smokey Obsessions Palette behind the scenes (considering doing Pan That Palette 2021 with this palette). However, using this palette so frequently made me realize that it has a fatal flaw in that it has two nearly identical deep, almost black brown shades…. but no mid-tone shade! For me, that’s a huge miss because my looks are either super light or super smokey.
I totally agree. I don’t always want to go smoky! I need my transitions hahah
I don’t use eyeshadow enough but for me, I think anywhere from 6-18. Any more and I think I would struggle. The main thing that I think is really important are the base and transition colours! The rest can be a bit wild, I don’t mind, although I am mostly a matte girl, sometimes shimmer. I definitely don’t do glitter or foil.
I don’t even know a look without glitter. Like I legit start a full matte look and then my fingers itch to go glitter😂😂😂
