Hi Darlings, in today’s post I’m going to share with you my tips and tricks on How To Get Rid Of Dark Circles.
I’ve always been a night owl so when I started working a day job last month I’ve started dealing with panda style dark circles.
I know what you are thinking “go to sleep earlier”, I’d love to. But that’s not how my brain works, even if I’m tired my brain is more active late at night, the same way, no matter how much I sleep, I’m tired until midday.
Anyway, I have to resort to skincare and makeup to look as awake as possible.
How To Get Rid Of Dark Circles
Treat

CAFFEINE HAS DRAINING AND ENERGIZING PROPERTIES SO IT WORKS AMAZINGLY TO FIGHT BAGS, DARK CIRCLES AND SIGNS OF AGING. COMBINED WITH OTHER ELEMENTS IT CAN HAVE A BRIGHTENING EFFECT AS WELL. EGCG IS GREEN TEA EXTRACT AND IT’S AN INCREDIBLE ANTIOXIDANT.
I’ve talked about the The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG multiple times because it’s one of my must from the brand. This doesn’t replace my eye cream but in the morning, when I’m super puffy and my dark circles are popping, I use a drop for both eyes, rubbing it gently under the eyes.
It brightens and depuffs the area beautifully especially combined with my rose quartz face roller which helps draining excess fluid.
Pro tip: keep it in the fridge to maximize its effect.
After this, I use eye cream to hydrate the area and to prevent the concealer from creasing. Some of my favourites are:
- Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
- belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb
- SEPHORA COLLECTION Brightening Eye Cream – Hydrate & Depuff
Correct

I’ve never used a colour corrector in my life but with the dark circles taking over my face I had to. I’m curretly OBSESSED with the Essence High Beauty Brightening Concealer in 02 Peach Beige.
The formula is very thin but it instantly corrects the purple hue of my dark circle, it doesn’t make my concealer crease and lasts all day, plus, it’s very affordable.
What is a corrector? And do I really need it?
Here is your little makeup lesson for today, a corrector for dark circles is usually a thinner concealer with a peach/orange tone that can be use BEFORE a concealer to CORRECT the tone of the dark circles when concealer isn’t enough.
If you look at the colour wheel you’ll see that the opposite colour to purple/blue (usually the tone of dark circles) is orange which means that using something with that tone on top of purple will help to neutralize that colour.

Do you need it? If you have REALLY dark circles, yes. The reason is simple. Using a normal concealer on a very dark dark circles will make it look grey which will make you look ill.
Conceal
Your next step is concealer. You have to use a concealer on top of the corrector otherwise you’ll see the orange tone so you have to even out your skin tone.
For the concealer I’m going to remind you to a recent post where I share the Best Concealers for Dark Circles and Acne. Here you can learn more about my 5 favourite concealers, but the one I’m using at the moment is the Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer in 1,5N.

Set
After all this work you need to set it. I use two powders because I’m excessive like that but you can use just one.
I start with the Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder to bake* because that’s the only way my concealer will last.
*Baking: (in case you don’t know what baking is): you put a lot of powder on top your concealer, let it sit (or bake) for 1 to 5 minutes and then sweep the excess.
Then I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder since my under eye is so dry and baking dries it even more, I use this powder (which is slightly luminous) to give a more hydrate look.
Here’s a before and after (unfiltered):

This is extremely helpful 🙌 I’ll definitely share your post to my sister, she struggles a lot with dark circles! I used to be a night owl but I trained my brain to become a morning person and it worked. I do sometimes become super active at night and it gets annoying 😂😂
25 years and I can’t be a morning person, yesterday I went to sleep before 2AM and it was the first time in over 6 years! Let me know how your sister likes the post
ugh I totally understand! Will do 😍
Thank you for this. I have the worst dark circles and I hate them. I will try these out for sure.
Let me know how it goes x
Definitely needed this! I have the worst dark circles! Doesn’t matter how much sleep I get. Adding to cart right now!
Enjoy xx
Se poi utilizzi anche un po’ di olio di vinaccioli con il correttore, la parte perioculare rimane ben idrata tutto il giorno e non tira come con la cipria 🙃
Proverò grazie!
Ugh dark circles are the forever struggle for me! Agree with many of these tips – especially caffeine products under the eyes!
Recently I’ve tried concealing my eyes with the technique that Robert Welsh uses and I’m finding that really makes an impact, too!
Uhhhh new technique 😍😍 do tell 😂
Basically, you place concealer only on the inner and outer corner of your eye. Tap info place with a finger – then blend excess towards the center.
The bulk of products will stay on the inner / outer corners, brightening and lifting the eyes. Meanwhile with less concealer in the center, there will be less creasing caused by wrinkles!
Oh ok that’s how I do it, I saw it in a Amanda Ensing’s video and it looked smart so I started doing it. It also lifts my face so I love it
I think a lot of us are dealing with dark circles more than we’d like. Such a stressful year. Thanks for these tips! I know I need it.
Agree! Thank you 💕
this is totally helpful!! my mom struggles with dark circles i must suggested some of these to her. I am 100% a morining person. im up at 5am everyday
OMG you are my hero for that, I don’t know how you do it!
Ahhh, the caffeine eye solution is an absolute godsend! Can’t live without it..
It’s the best!
Love how useful this post is! I don’t have a problem with dark circles on a daily basis, but every now and then when I’m sleep deprived they really pop out. Your banner image is so funny, it made me chuckle! Wow, what a difference in that ‘before and after’!
😂😂😂 I had so much fun with the picture
omg i need the ordinary caffeine solution for sure ;D and i have yet to see that essence concealer at my store, hopefully i can find it somewhere else 🙂 thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you! I recommend both with my whole heart. Pretty sure the concealer is available at Ulta I just don’t know if you can find it in actual stores
I will be on the lookout for both through Ulta, I think* they have The Ordinary there. I will do that now, otherwise I will forget LOL
It’s so good x
Dark circles are an issue for me, so here I am trying to learn something new! Peach concealers are awesome, and we need to spread the word about that. I think, for me, that area of my face is actually sunken in, which is why I can’t fully make the darkness go away. I believe it is a shadow/how the light falls on my face, if that makes sense.
