Today’s question is: “What makeup trend would you like to disappear?”
Hi Darlings, so today’s post is going to be another: Mimi & Julia Ask.
Where we are going to ask you a beauty related question and we want to read your answers so make sure to leave a comment.
If you have a question for next week you are free to ask and I’ll make sure include it in another post and to give you credit for it.
What makeup trend would you like to disappear?
Mimi: Heavy Instagram makeup (think James Charles, Kylie Jenner and such). Of course, everyone can do whatever they want but I don’t like that that’s considered “talented makeup artistry” because it’s obvious.
To me, talented makeup artistry is the kind of makeup that enhances features without being over the top. I like when a lot of makeup looks natural.
You can see the pictures below, both makeup shows a neutral look but James’s is heavy and “obvious” while Rome’s is more blended and natural, despite the fact they are both wearing a lot of makeup (look at the brows, the lips, the nose contour, the highlighter).
Julia: It’s not really that I care if people do it but a makeup trend I wouldn’t mind not seeing again is heavy contour.
It’s too noticeable and doesn’t look realistic, no one has a creamy brown stripe on their face. Especially on the jawline, that’s just bad.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN: LEAVE US A COMMENT SO WE CAN START A CONVERSATION.

Love,
I would like heavy fake makeup to go away I agree with mimi. I like more natural simple makeup looks to show people natural beauty!
🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️😂💕
Oh this is such a fun concept. I actually don’t mind the overdone makeup look but can we count claw nails as part of this. I can’t even with them!
OMG same! I can’t function when I have long nails 😂
It takes me like twice as long to do a simple task 😅
😂😂😂 I feel like Peter Griffin in that gif with fuchsia nails. You know?
Oh I agree with you – except for me it’s less about the makeup itself and the photo editing. So I wish the heavy photo editing with unrealistic (and un-true) facial features and makeup would go away.
Photo editing is a skill, but JC’s photos do not align with reality in anyway.
Oh yeah, I don’t like overly edited pics too!
Personally, I’m not a fan of the primary color eyeshadows I see floating around.
Yeah I agree in that c
I like the heavy make up for entertaining purposes 😀 I love to see the videos of how it’s done, but not in a million years would do it for myself!
Agree!
Heavy heavy drawn on eyebrows. I get fuller eyebrows are a thing now..but when they look unrealistic…I wanna lick my finger and wipe them off LOL
Ahahhahahahhahah 😂😂😂
I’d have to say my least fave is overdrawn lips but some people do it well!
Agree! Tbh it ages me so badly x
I have the same sentiments you have! The heavy instagram makeup already looks SO heavy on camera so I can’t imagine how it must look in-person. Honestly, it’s like they’re not even trying to hide it anymore. But the good thing about this is, natural makeup and other makeup artists’ work will get a different type of recognition that’s well-respected. The camera really doesn’t lie.
I’m with you – no heavy Instagram makeup please! I was never ever into that personally. Don’t have the skills, time or energy to put that much effort into my makeup. That photo of Lindsey, omg!!!!
😂😂😂
Using too many products? I often see people putting 2-3 blush shades, a liquid and a powder highlighter, two types of powder doing one makeup look. Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok to mix products to get a shade/effect you want. But sometimes it goes over the top and makes an impression you a need a million of products to create a single makeup look.
Agree!
