Hi Darlings, in today’s post we are going to talk about How To Get Rid Of Face Pores.
Last week, I was talking to my friend Martina who, if she’s not reading this post I’m going to strangle (kidding of course), told me she had enlarged pores on her cheeks and asked me if I knew how to get rid of them.
It made me think, there’s a lot of wrong pieces of information floating around and I decided to write this post to clarify them and help you if you have enlarged pores.
How To Get Rid Of Face Pores: Is It Actually Possible?
Sorry to break your little heart, but no. After a long conversation with a dermatologist, I’ve discovered that you can’t get rid of face pores nor you can change their dimension for a long stretch of time.
So whatever product is sold as “pore reducing” is a skam and if people tell you you can reduce them with this or that trick, THEY ARE LYING.
You were born with that pore size and you are going to have them like that all your life.
So There’s Nothing I Can Do?
Well, lucky you, there’s something you can do but it requires makeup more than a miracle product.
Step 1: Cleanse

This might seem like an obvious one but is not for a lot of people. You have to wash your skin in the morning and remove makeup at the end of the day.
If not the makeup and the dirt (built-up oil, smog, pollution) is going to get remain stuck in you pores making them appear enlarged.
Despite what most ads say, you don’t have to spend a lot on your cleanser because it doesn’t remain on the skin long enough to benefit it.
So as long as you use something that’s not too drying you can use whatever. You can check out my morning and evening skincare routines to see what I use.
Step 2: Hydrate

Another obvious not so obvious one. If you don’t hydrate, your skin is going to try and compensate by producing more oil and oil comes out from pores, which can result in them looking enlarged.
If you aren’t into skincare my pro tip here is to get something with Hyaluronic Acid.
Hyaluronic Acid, contains 1000 times its weight in water so it’s very hydrating. The molecules are so tiny it hydrates deeply and it works for every skin type as it’s not greasy at all.
It’s also very popular at the moment so you don’t have to spend much to buy it. I love the The Ordinary one and it’s insanely affordable.

Step 3: Makeup

Here’s the only way you can make your pore “disappear” of course is going to last only until you keep your makeup on but it’s a great way to minimize pores.
More specifically, you’ll need a primer and the primer needs to contain a form of silicone. For so many years, silicone had a bad reputation and primers along with it.
Two Words On Primer
Primer acts as a barrier between your skin and the outside agents that can damage your skin, so as long as you wash your makeup off at the end of the day (see Step 1) you won’t have any problems with silicones (unless you’re allergic to it).
Primers are the key product that can make the real difference in your face makeup, more than any foundation ever will. It can keep you matte or hydrated, it can help your foundation last all day or in this case, minimize the appearance of your pores.
My absolute must have, miracle worker on pores, primer won’t come as a surprise to my readers, is the Clarins Sos Primer Blurs Imperfection in 02 Peach.

Here’s the UNEDITED before and after of the effect it has on me. It’s such an underrated product but the only one that works like this on me.

I love that you’re exposing brands that falsely advertise! Also, this is a really helpful post. Thank you!
Thank you for reading. I’m sure some can help but they can’t do miracles 💕
I’m so glad you posted about this! My pores have seemingly grown larger the older I get, so I’ve been trying to find ways to minimize them.
I hope you love this technique. I know the primer comes in a darker orange too if this one is too light 🥰
I’ve been doing these things for a while now and have noticed a difference! Skin care is so important. And a bit of makeup never hurt either.
I agree!
Ohhhh wow!! I’ve honestly never given my pores a thought! My crows feet and rosacea get most of my concern, but now I’m worried about my pores LOL! Will try these tips!
I so need to do something about my pores. I try masks, creams and super pricey facials and still I feel like they are committed to being so visible. Going to hydrate more!
Enjoy girl x
You’re 💯 right about the inability to make pores shrink or go away, but it think it’s so hard for a lot of people to grasp that clogged pores can look larger!!
And I 💯 on the importance of a solid skincare routine to help keep the pores from over-producing oil & getting clogged with dead skin, dirt, oil, and grime!!
That Clarins primer always looks magical when you share it on the blog.
Hahahah I bet people are sick of me talking about its miracles!
