Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatches of the Urban Decay Born To Run Palette.
If you don’t follow me on other socials you might not know that I was in Genoa a couple of weeks ago on holiday and to visit my family who lives there. I had the best time and I’m missing everyone like crazy.
That being said I wasn’t planning on getting this palette, I talked about it in one of my first NEW posts that I wrote about this collection (catch it here in case you missed it) and I was not going to get it but my aunt had other plans.
She saw me swatching it in Sephora because it was the first time I was seeing it in real life and she decided to get it for me. I was so shocked, to be honest, but I’m so glad I have it because I unexpectedly fell in love with some of these shades.
You can get it here for 49$.
PACKAGING
I love the packaging of this palette, it comes in a cardboard box with a very pretty design. The actual packaging is so pretty too. I love the photos of the different places in the world that you can see on it.
It comes with a gigantic mirror, perfect if you are travelling and doing your make up on the go but the palette is actually very heavy you’ll get tired to hold it.
Inside you get 21 shades, most of them are really bold and dark (which was what turned me off at the beginning) but you really get everything you need to create a more smokey look. I like that the names of the shades are under the pan.
The only two shades that are not new are Smog, also in the Naked palette and Punk which was in the collaboration they did with Gwen Stefani a couple of years ago.
PIGMENTATION & FORMULA
There are six mattes and twelve shimmers and four satins.
All the shades have a medium to high pigmentation, most of them are really creamy and easy to blend.
I prefer to use the shimmers with your finger (or with a wet brush) they just work better like this and you won’t get a lot of fall down.
The mattes blend beautifully. You definitely get a great selection of colours to create a lot of different looks but you don’t get many light shades so I would consider this a night palette (or a day one if you rock smokey eyes every day).
APPLICATION
The three purple shades are terrible (Hell Ride, Guilt Trip and Wildheart) you will see on the eyes. They are incredibly patchy, they grab and they are a nightmare to blend, luckily they are just three shades.
The three green/blue shades (Wanderlust, Radio, Big Sky) are my absolute favourite, I’ve been wearing them a lot on my lower lashline as a fun pop of colour. They are so unique.
SWATCH

LASTING POWER
With a primer, they last about 9 hours before fading.

GRADE: B+
This palette is really nice, I like the shade range although I think that they are all too dark. The formula is good and standard for Urban Decay. I don’t mind to use my fingers for the shimmer but I’m sure that it would be a problem for some people. Apart from those three purply shades, the other shades are really pretty. I would recommend it if you like a more heavy eye make up.

some seriously bold colors, but they’re SO pretty!! still shot is a gorgeous color & i love the pop of blue on your first look ?
Thanks girl, I tried to use as many shades as possible to show them on the eyes ??
lol i love that!! ?
I got the palette around the same time as you and I completely agree. The colors are beautiful and bold, but overall on the dark side. I tried putting Hell Ride in my crease and it was choppy, choppy, choppy! But I have yet to find a matte purple that truly is smooth. I love all the cooler blues and greens too, but I also love Still Shot, Riff, Blaze (which gives me MAC Patina vibes), Ignite and Double Life as well.
You are so right about Blaze! Totally looks like patina, that’s why I really like it. I want to get the Norvina palette from Anastasia, hopefully those purple are better.
Let us know how those are! I most likely won’t be getting the Norvina palette. The only color I find interesting is Soul; so if they decide to sell it as a single, I’m all over it!
Soul is such an interesting shade I agree! I can’t wait to get my hands on it ?
That’s really too bad that the purples are no good!! I swatched this palette in store and wasn’t overly impressed. The jewel-tones are pretty, but I don’t feel like I need this palette. Seems like a good addition to your collection for the most part though!
I didn’t need it but since it was a gift I’ll take it, I mean is a good palette, so upset about the purples but they are so hard to make, hopefully the Norvina palette will be better (can’t wait to get it), do you have it?
I just started using it this week. The formula is consistent with other ABH palettes. Haven’t dipped into the purples yet though!
Oh god! It’s sold out on sephora Italia and it’s not in stores yet! I seriously can’t wait to get it ??
oh man!! hopefully they restock soon! I posted swatches on my insta today and I will be posting a full review next week on the blog 😉
I’m so bad! I haven’t been reading anything lately I’m so crazy busy, but I’ll wait for your review ? checking ig right now
Haha no no, me neither. trying to get better as well 😉
I need a weekend my laptop and me. Ahha
A fabulous range of colors and two stellar looks you created with them (: nice palette review!
Not sure why your comment went to spam, thank you so much for reading as always <3
This looks like a great palette. Big Sky and Wanderlust look like such fun shades of green!
I’m so in love with them ?
I love how colourful the shades are! The mirror also sounds great, I like a big mirror to do my eye makeup x
Yeah same! It’s so heavy though, challenging to hold Ahhah
I am in love with the colors! I prefer nude colors, though. But I’m not sure (and not confident enough) that I could pull off the bold colors 😀
I don’t usually wear bold colours like these but these are so easy to use 🙂
I love all of the drastic colors. And they look fantastic on you!
Thank you so much ?
Beautiful packaging!! And such bold colours too. Great review xx
Thank you xx
I bought an Urban Decay palette and only realised afterward they did not come with any brushes. Are there any brushes that you recommend?
I love Zoeva and real techniques, both affordable and high quality ???
