Hi Darling, today’s post is going to be the review of the YSL The Shock Volumizing Mascara.
I have the waterproof version. I have also tried the original but is not as good. The waterproof formula is blacker and it has a better brush. So even if I normally don’t like waterproof mascaras, I don’t mind in this case.
I got to try it at work and I completely fell in love with it so my store manager gave it to me for Christmas but I also already have a backup.
You know I normally don’t buy expensive mascaras so the fact that this is in my collection now says something.
You can get it from Sephora for 29$.
PACKAGING
I absolutely LOVE the packaging, it’s so chic and it has pink details so of course, I love it. It comes in a cardboard box.
The spooly is long and thin and it’s made of soft bristles that look like the twist around a bit.
FORMULA
The formula is not too thick or too liquidy and it’s very black if you are not careful it tends to transfer on your lids when you apply it. But once it dries it doesn’t smudge or flake off.
I know for a fact that YSL mascaras dry very quickly, mine still works just fine, so I’ll report back.
It is scented. I love the smell, but it might be annoying if you have sensitive eyes.
EFFECT & APPLICATION
I do two coats to get the best results but if you like to do more you can definitely build this mascara up without the spidery effect. Overall I think two coats are more than enough the get the best result.
This mascara is very lengthening and volumizing. It’s slightly clumpy but I love the way it looks on my lashes.
I find that it holds a curl beautifully. One of the things I love the most about it is that once it dries it doesn’t make the lashes really hard. They remain soft and flattery.
LASTING POWER
This mascara lasts all day on me without flaking or smudging.
Despite being waterproof, I find it not too hard to remove with an oily cleanser and micellar water. If I am patient I don’t have the black halo around my eyes when I wake up.

I absolutely adore this mascara, I actually got compliments on my lashes when I wore it because they are super long and voluminous. Guarantee is too expensive and my L’Oreal one is just as good but I really see a difference when I use it. Other than the price, the other thing I don’t like is the fact that is waterproof. It better than the classic so I’m ok with it but I wonder why they are so different.
