Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Maybelline Super Stay 24h Foundation, that claims to be full coverage and to last up to 24h.
This is actually my mum foundation so the shade is a bit dark for me but I still wanted to review the formula.
The shade I have is 21 Nude Beige. I have to say that I swatched the shade lighter than this and it was too light and pink, at least in Italy it doesn’t come in very many shades which of course it’s a downside.
It retails for 12$ and you can get the Maybelline Super Stay 24h Foundation here.
PACKAGING
The bottle is made of glass and it has a pump. It contains 30ml of product which is pretty standard for a foundation.
I’m not the biggest fan of the glass bottle: it looks nice and fancy but I’m personally incredibly clumsy so I’m always scared to break it.
I appreciate the pump as it’s really sanitary.
FORMULA
The formula is quite thick and not runny, it’s definitely full coverage.
I used two pumps to cover my entire face. The foundation is quite hard to blend because it dries really quickly and you can’t move it or it will get really blotchy.
This foundation looks so BAD on me: it grabs to dry patches, it shows so much of my texture and it enhances my pores. I really don’t think it works for my skin type.
I also get shiny really quickly.
APPLICATION
My favourite way to apply it it’s with a damp sponge, I find that it makes the foundation mesh with the skin a lot better.
LASTING POWER
After about an hour it gets really shiny and it starts to break on my oily areas.
On my mum, it lasts all day though and it doesn’t transfer so if you have more normal to dry skin I think you’ll like it.
RATINGS:
- Colour: 6/10
- Longevity: 5/10
- Application: 6/10
- Formula: 5/10
- Pigmentation: 9/10
- Packaging: 8/10
GRADE: C
I wanted to like this foundation way more than I do but it doesn’t work for my skin type. I like the packaging and the coverage but it grabs to my dry patches and it shows texture and pores plus it gets oily super quickly. On the packaging, it doesn’t say anything about the finish, but it doesn’t work for my oily skin. My mum really likes it though so if you have more normal to dry skin and you are looking for a full coverage product, I think you might like it.

I tried this a few months ago and didn’t like it either! It’s so weird because I see so many people rave about it. My skin is combo dry right now, it looked really bad on my skin and dried it out

I wanted to like it so badly but it looks super patchy on me! My mum loves it,it looks beautiful on her, so maybe it works on normal skin only..

Thank you for such an honest review. I rarely ever use foundation. When I do I want it to be a good one, but at a great price. This is one I would have picked up, but I now know that I should choose something else. Thanks!
Mimi dice
It’s a bit too tricky to use so I think you can find something better ??

Great review! I have combination skin, so I will definitely pass on this one. I am also often clumsy, so I am not a fan of glass bottle either.
Mimi dice
Ahahah nothing better than dropping a glass foundation bottle (it happened in the past ahahha)

This is such a shame it didn’t work for you, I’ve just started using this and have been loving the formula and finish. I agree that the shade range is so poor though , I have to use a lightening drops to custom build my shade! Great honest review x
Mimi dice
What do you use to apply it? Because I’ve tried with a flat kabuki and a sponge but it gets so blotchy ??
Rebecca Allatt dice
I use the Real Techniques sponge (damp). I do use the NYX pore primer though which gives my skin a velvety look to it so I think that’s helping my application not look so dry. ❤️
Mimi dice
Maybe I just have to accept that it doesn’t work for me ??

Great review!! Too bad it didnt work on you :// i have combination ski, i am sure it won’t work on me too so i won’t bother to buy it!!
Mimi dice
There are so many good foundations out there you can pass this one, I wanted to love it so badly but it’s too tricky to use ? so sad because I’m such a maybelline lover ??

See this is the kind of review I love, an unbiased and honest one! I definitely appreciate hearing the good AND the bad.

Thank you so much for reading it. Not all products work for everyone ??

You are gorgeous and have beautiful eyelashes btw! Great review! Will look into my shade as I am in the market for a new foundation.

Thank you! See if it works for your skin first 😀 it’s a bit tricky

This just goes to show that not all makeup looks good on all people. I used to use liquid foundation, then moved to mineral powder. I go back and forth, but the powder seems to work okay when my skin is especially dry.
Mimi dice
It’s crazy too see how products work on different skins! I love mineral powders during the summer but it’s too drying right now 😀

So interesting how skin type affected the results so drastic. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for reading it. <3

Thanks for sharing an honest review! I don’t think I’ll ever give up my current foundation, but sometimes it’s so tempting to try something that’s cheaper and easier to grab at the store. My face can get a little oily, so I’d definitely pass on this one.
Mimi dice
That sounds like a keeper to me, what are you using? ? you can skip this one if you are a bit oily ?♥️

Great review! I bought this the other day but I haven’t tried it yet, hopefully it works okay for me! I’ve nominated you for the Liebster award, here’s my post https://lashesloveandlifestyle.wordpress.com/2018/02/08/liebster-award-2/ x

I’ll keep my finger crossed for you ? let me know how it goes, thank you so much, I’ve already done it, but I really appreciate it ?

I tried this a while ago and also didn’t like it! It made my skin look worse somehow. I also get oily quickly so your explanation about it working better for different skin types makes sense!
Mimi dice
Thank you for sharing your experience, I wanted to like it so much, that was the only thing that made sense ahah

There’s so much hype around this product, its quite disappointing that it clings to the areas you wouldn’t want it too. I definitely need to go and have a think about purchasing.
Such an amazing honest review.

Thank you so much sweetie, always keeping it real about reviews. Sometimes product don’t work for everyone. I tried it following the hype and sadly is a no for me. Xx
Hannah dice
I love the fact that you are 100% honest in this post – so many people post about their favourite foundations and it’s nice to see one for a change that talks about a foundation to perhaps not use if you’re particularly oily or have dry skin. x
Mimi dice
Thank you so much. If something doesn’t work for me it doesn’t mean it’s a bad product!
Jazz dice
I would have thought this would be comparable to the Fit Me Matte + Poreless but your review is very thorough and shows that it isn’t! Thanks for sharing!
Mimi dice
Actually I’m not the biggest fan of that one either but I definitely like it better ? not a dupe at all
Kate (@thegoldsister) dice
I’ve been looking for a new foundation, so I really appreciate this review. I have pretty oily skin, so this seems like it would NOT be a solid fit for me haha.
Thanks for sharing, so I don’t waste my time! x

Thank you so much for taking the time to read it. Xx

Great review, Mimi! It’s so interesting how makeup works completely differently on different skin types. My skin doesn’t respond well to liquid foundation generally (or maybe I just haven’t found the perfect kind yet!), so I’m guessing this brand wouldn’t work well with me either. The search continues 😉
