It’s all about your budget, there’s no point in splurging if you’re not going to actually use it. I keep buying makeup and never actually using it.
Mimi dice
Yeah I totally agree!

I very rarely wear eye shadow anymore. I just can’t make it look right. But when I do buy makeup, I tend to go with the budget option.

The drugstore has some amazing products!

Can I cheat and say both? Because I love both high-end and drugstore shadows. If you can get your hands on Milani or Elf eyeshadows in Italy you will not be disappointed. In my opinion they perform very similarly to more luxury products. I also think L’Oreal is quite good on the whole. Maybelline, Revlon, CoverGirl and even Wet n’ Wild can be a bit hit or miss though.
Mimi dice
I can get both online but it’s tricky (like they aren’t Italian sites) but to be honest, I’m happy with splurging. L’Oréal is not bad I agree but we have a small selection of them here
Erica dice
I see what you mean, that is annoying. The L’Oreal singles are better than their palettes in my opinion.
Mimi dice
Agree!

I’m definitely a quality over quantity kind a girl and especially because, as you’re also mentioning, cheap/affordable eyeshadows are just incomparable with more pricier ones. I really liked the pictures in this blog post because it really shows how much difference there is when it comes to good eyeshadows. I personally love MAC eyeshadows, Too Faced and actually also Zoeva eyeshadows, which aren’t that expensive, but still more expensive than the average drugstore ones. Great post girlies! ❤️❤️
Mimi dice
I used to use only urban decay and MAC so I definitely agree! I’ve tried Zoeva too, the palette I had was very pretty but I had dupes of the shades in other palettes so I gave it away. Thank you for reading x

The Zoeva palette I have is called Caramel Melange <3 I highly recommend you test it if you’re near by a Zoeva stand xx
Mimi dice
I’ll have to try it!

I haven’t worn eyeshadow in a few months but from my experience, the more expensive palettes I purchased always had the best pigments. I just bought a Morphe palette that I have yet to try – it was more in my budget than splurging on Urban Decay, let’s say!
Mimi dice
Ahahahha I’ve never tried morphe eyeshadows bit I’ve just got their brushes and I’m testing them out for the first time. I don’t like big palettes like them because they are soo hard to store

When it comes to makeup the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ seems to be the key.
Mimi dice
Not always but mostly yes for eyeshadow
With love, Caroline dice
The difference is impressive!! ? I do agree with you both, expensive eyeshadows are better!
Mimi dice
It’s impressive right?!

Ooo so I should probably say “splurge” since I own more high end palettes compared to affordable ones. BUT you know me – I love affordable and high end. I think it all depends on the brand or formula.
I can understand what you mean about blending and colors, but I think it all comes down to formula. Like in the States, ColourPop, Milani, etc both make really incredible formulas.
Mimi dice
Ok I guess I agree on colourpop but I’ve never tried Milani’s eyeshadows, I have to get them online but last time I tried the palettes were all sold out. If I remember I’ll add them to my order next time!

I generally try to save, but I’m sort of in the middle. I have a Charlotte Tilbury palette that absolutely doesn’t work for me – it creases like hell and fades so horribly no matter what I try. But then Urban Decay is a winner, and on the more budget side NYX is fab. If eyeshadow is something you love, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with splurging here and there but there’s definitely hot competition from the drugstore.
Mimi dice
Julia doesn’t like NYX but I’ve never tried them. Urban Decay’s are amazing though!
Rossy Galaxy dice
i have both in my collection and while you’re right, some affordable eyeshadow products aren’t the best, they are actually a few brands who have amazing formulas and rival high end brands. i have tried a few high end brands thanks to Boxycharm and I can say that expensive doesn’t always mean better. then again, it also depends on preference, each person is different and things wear differently on people 🙂
Mimi dice
I think that while is true that expensive doesn’t mean quality, it’s easier to find better performing eyeshadows on the high end site. We also don’t have easy access to a lot of affordable brands so that reduces our chances even more.
Rossy Galaxy dice
That is so true. And the reverse is also true. Some people’s budgets dont allow for high end brands (like me). If I ever treat myself to anything expensive I consider that a splurge either for my bday or other celebratory occasion lol
Mimi dice
Of course! I think eyeshadow is the thing that’s worth splurging for though x
