Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder in the shade 956 Invincible.
This lipstick was part of a gift from the brand when I was working at Douglas because we sold a certain number of their new perfume, still I thought it would be fun to review it because the formula is very interesting.
It comes in nine shades and you can get it from nordstrom.com or everywhere that sells Chanel for 31,80$
COLOUR
On the website, the shade is described as classic red.
PACKAGING
The packaging is very pretty, it is a squeezy tube with black and gold details but the tube itself is in a plasticky rubber material which is not the fanciest.
The applicator is a soft sponge and you have to squeeze the lipstick through.
It smells like lipstick but it’s nothing overpowering or annoying.

FORMULA
The formula is very creamy and quite sheer but buildable. If you layer it too much it gets patchy and it settles into fine lines, it’s nothing terribly noticeable from the distance but up close it is. I definitely like it better more sheer.
It is a very interesting formula, it feels like a mousse, it’s completely matt and looks like velvet. On the lips is matt but it’s definitely slippery like a regular lipstick.
Once it dries, it gets a powdery feel that so drying and uncomfortable. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not used to matte lipsticks anymore or what but it feels very drying.
APPLICATION
I actually like the applicator, it’s very precise because it’s quite firm. You just have to be careful and not squeeze out too much.
SWATCH

Here you can see it more sheer (the top two) and layered (bottom two):

LASTING POWER
It doesn’t last as long as a matt lipstick and it’s not transfer-proof, on me, it lasts around 4 hours.
RATING:
- Colour: 10/10
- Longevity: 7/10
- Packaging: 8/10
- Pigmentation: 6/10
- Formula: 6/10
GRADE: C+
This lipstick doesn’t work me, the colour is gorgeous and the packaging is nice, even if it looks a bit cheap but the formula is too dry and patchy which makes it so uncomfortable to wear. It looks pretty when you put a very sheer layer on but honestly, it’s not worth it for the price.

I love Chanel’s lip stuff!! Not just the color, but the scents!!! They really know how to get me.
Want!!
Chanel products smell so good! I agree
I LOVE a good red lip! This look like it would be a perfect shade for my skin tone. Bummer you don’t like the formula, though, so I think in spite of how much I love the look, I’ll pass.
It would look amazing on you! The formula is not that great yeah…
It would look incredible on you!
Your review seems so spot on! I love the squeezy tube (I’m a sucker for those) but for that price, I’ve seen other drugstore lipsticks you’ve reviewed that apply much better. The color is nice though!
Agree! The colour is so pretty!
Man what a bummer – I would not be pleased with the dryness or patchiness! Also, the packaging is pretty but doesn’t not look like what I’d expect from Chanel.
Exactly! It looks cheap!
I hate patchy lipsticks definitely makes it look cheap even when it is clearly not. Love reading your reviews!
Thank you 💕
Beautiful color, but sounds like a hard pass for me! Can’t be dealing with dry lip products anymore.
Same!
What a beautiful color. I especially love the lipstick applicator. It’s too bad the feel and formula is not great. Quite surprising for Chanel
Yeah I agree their lipstick are usually bomb!
