Hi Darlings, today’s post is going to be the review and swatch of the Smashbox Always On Cream To Matte Lipstick in the shade Stepping Out.
I bought this shade because I have the liquid lipstick version and I wanted to compare them.
A couple of days ago my former boss and friend called me and told me: “you need to come and try the new Smashbox lipsticks”. So I did, the next day actually.
I wore it for the entire day while we hung out and although I didn’t love it, it still came home with me because it was too interesting to pass up.
You can get them from Sephora for 24$ and it comes in 40 shades.
COLOUR
Stepping Out is a deep nude.
PACKAGING
It is a classic lipstick bullet, quite skinny though. The shade is written at the bottom and the top part of the cup is the same shade as the lipstick.
It doesn’t really have a scent or a specific taste.
FORMULA
The formula is highly pigmented, it’s creamy when you put it on but once it dries it becomes completely matt and transfer-proof, like an actual liquid lipstick. It is the weirdest thing.
It isn’t thick like the liquid lipstick but it’s very sticky and after a while, you start to feel it on the lips which is why I don’t like it.
Once it dries it becomes slightly darker than what it appears in the packaging.
It goes on super smooth and it meshes with the lips becoming one with them.
APPLICATION
The shape of the actual lipstick is quite interesting. It’s slightly curved so it hugs the lips perfectly.
SWATCH
LASTING POWER
Since it’s transfer-proof, it’s super long lasting, about 5 hours, yet it’s not hard to remove. You can use any kind of makeup remover.

GRADE: B
This lipstick is incredibly unique and if you don’t mind the stickiness it’s actually great. The formula is incredible, I suggest you try it because it’s something I’ve never seen. The lasting power, of course, it’s great and I love that it’s easy to remove. I should have got a lighter shade because I don’t like this one when it becomes darker once it dries.

I love neutral lip shades and this one is lovely on you. Just curious if it feels dry? I usually avoid matte lip colors because I don’t like the feeling of my lips being dry…kinda weird I know. I like my Vaseline. Thank you for the informative review!

I’ve never tried Smashbox lipstick, but my favorite shade of my signature lipstick was discontinued. It was also a nude shade, and I haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement and think I’m overdue for a trip to Sephora.

On my lips and the swatch it’s after, once it was dry, in the tube looks lighter. They have lighter shades too though ?
