Hi Darlings, in today’s post Julia and I are going to chat about the NEW Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Cremated Collection for Spring 2020.
This collection is very controversial, I know Jeffree is usually in the centre of those but this is the first time her makeup line has received so much hate both because people thought the colours of the palette were boring and because the death theme during this period was considered a bit insensitive.
We are also going to talk a little about that but we definitely want to hear what you think of it because Julia and I spent an evening discussing it.
The collection launched on the 22nd and it’s available on jeffreestarcosmetics.com
Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Cremated Collection: PRODUCTS
Due to Covid19, the collection is a bit smaller than his usual ones with only the eyeshadow palette and four glosses.
There are a few accessories we are not going to cover here because I’d rather have the post focused on the makeup but there are two makeup bags and a set of metal straws too.
Cremated Eyeshadow Palette (58$)
The Gloss (18$ each)
It comes in four shades:
- Heaven’s Gate (sheer icy kiss of glistening white sparkles)
- Coroner’s Kiss (sheer tint of mysterious grey with gold sparkles)
- Funeral Parlor (sheer gunmetal with glistening white sparkles)
- Six Feet Under (sheer tint of luxurious black, with icy white sparkles)
Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Cremated Collection: OUR THOUGHTS
MIMI: I don’t particularly hate grey, I like cool-toned eyeshadows and I like grey on me but I rarely use it. For that reason only I wouldn’t get the palette. I like the marble packaging a lot and the cover photo reminds me of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way era which I love.
What I really don’t like is that the last two rows of the palette look so similar, I wouldn’t need that many shades of the same matte grey, and the price is wayyyy too high. I honestly think this palette should have been a 9pans one. I don’t like the shades of the gloss at all so I won’t buy them.
Now, the “theme”, I honestly don’t mind it, my dad was cremated and it doesn’t bother me at all. A lot of people thought it was offensive because a lot of people died with Covid19 but it’s just makeup and I don’t think he made it to offend anyone so why see an offence when is clear that it wasn’t meant like that?
JULIA: I find grey a sad colour, in general, but especially in makeup. When you look at the palette is not even ugly, but I would never use it. So many colours are the same. The packaging is terrible, I don’t like palettes with faces on top.
For the same reasons I don’t like the glosses.
I think that call it “Cremated” is quite tacky in this period, with all names that recall cemeteries, death… Mah, I would have avoided it.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS COLLECTION? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BUY? LEAVE US A COMMENT SO WE CAN START A CONVERSATION.

Even if I had liked this (which I didn’t), I would not buy it because it is obvious this person is trying to take advantage out of this situation to make money. I find this is poor taste and I wouldn’t take this even for free. I wouldn’t support this person even with a penny.
I don’t think he is taking advantage of the situation, because the collection was registered back in September, but I respect your opinion and it’s your choice to not support him
While I love the cool tones of the eyeshadow palette, I think that the lip glosses all look the same with the exception of the top one. That said, Jeffree Star has made very racist comments about African Americans and Hispanics in the past, so I’ll not support any of his products.
I totally understand your position
I still don’t own any Jeffree Star makeup, but I know this collection flew off the virtual shelves. The color scheme is very unexpected. I look forward to seeing the looks that people will create with this palette. I don’t think the colors are my cup of tea… the shades are all too similar. I hate when you finish your eye look and you can’t tell the difference between the colors you used because there was no variety in the palette itself.

Same! I own a few lipstick and a highlighter, I have the review up if you want to check them out! ?? (no pressure)
How pretty. I’m sure my daughter will want this. I think she already has something from him but I can’t recall what it is.
I hope she’ll get something x
Def not feeling this collection at all – I think that the theme of the collection will always be controversial, but the timing of this release was particularly bad. Also, he was SO late to this trend – both Lime Crime and ColourPop released better curated palettes with this color story months ago.
Exactly the theme was controversial no matter what. I definitely agree with you and if I liked these colours I’d have gone with CP
I think the color story was very unexpected from him, which I like, but he could have made the palette like half the size. Perhaps on the eyes all those matte grey blend differently, but to the eye they look very similar in the pan.
I know that he didn’t mean for this collection to be offensive in any way, and how could he have known that COVID would have hit during this period, but I can see why others are offended. But at the end of the day, it’s just makeup. (And let’s be honest, there’s always going to be someone who’s offended by something now.) In the past, controversy has always helped his brand – all his loyal followers will literally snatch up whatever he puts out so it’s always a win-win for him.
Yes! I’m gonna get it tattooed “IT’S JUST MAKEUP” it doesn’t have to be serious. I agree with everything you said!
That would be some tattoo!
eh, this one is a big pass for me. I do think it would be fabulous for a more scene/alternative vibe and paler/cooler skintone than mine though xx
Agree! Its not my vibe either
I still don’t own anything from JS but this isn’t the collection for me. I quite like to have greys and smokey neautral colours in a palette but I don’t want a whole palette out of them!
Agree! You should try the liquid lipstick. I’m not a fan of the category but his are the best I’ve ever tried, they feel like nothing on the lips, last all day and the colours are beautiful x
He has loads of nice shades in the lipstick. I’m not a big fan of liquid lipstick formulas these days but I have a few I like x
I totally agree, I always wear glosses but if I want something long lasting I always go for his liquid lipsticks.
I really like the shimmering lip gloss in this collection. Great for date night.
Totally x
Wow, that’s wild!! I do love the lip gloss.
So pretty x
That is such a poor choice of name and timing. They will never get a penny from me.
I definitely understand your position
I have to agree with Mimi, i don’t hate the grey shades but looking closely at it, i probably wouldn’t use these shades often, and some do seem like they would look the same on the eyes so it was an easy pass for me. I do agree with Julia in terms of “faces” on palettes, I kind of don’t like that haha.
As for the glosses, eh they weren’t striking or appealing to me either.
And lastly, the theme. Doesn’t bother me. I think people just want to find something to be offended about these days, or someone to cancel, idk, cancel culture is growing these days. Anyway, despite Jeffree being a controversial person, I don’t think this collection/theme was meant to offend anyone. At least I didnt see it that way. Makeup takes a while to create so if people think he just came up with this a few months ago when this pandemic started, then….. ugh lol.
Exactly! I completely agree with you. I really don’t like “cancel culture”, people are allowed to make mistakes and the fact they put themselfs out there doesn’t give you permission to be hateful!
